IT Technician
 
 
Location: Northampton, Northants Salary: c£9 - 9.50 per hour 6 months contract Ref: SF3999

Very successful Northampton based company specialising in supplying and supporting fully integrated ICT solutions to schools and colleges wants to recruit an IT Technician to join it's support team.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high growth company that offers a well structured career path for the right person. 

The role will initially be temporary for 6 months but following that it will hopefully be converted to permanent.  You will be travelling to site daily and use of your own car is essential although you will be paid a travel allowance.

You will be required to provide the following;

•  Installation and configuration of all IT equipment including PC's, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, cameras, PDA's and other equipment
•  Support of LAN's and Fibre campus networks
•  Resolution of second line support calls, escalation where necessary and regular feedback to customer
•  Provision of regular on-site support visits to customers, performing regular and emergency maintenance
• You will be travelling to site on a daily basis and as such own transport is required for which you will be paid a mileage allowance

Essential experience / skills required;

• A proven history of supporting Microsoft IT systems
• Excellent PC, Laptop and Printer hardware experience
• A good knowledge of networking and server support
• Ability to communicate with technical and non technical people at all levels
• You must have a logical approach to problem solving and have excellent communications skills especially in describing technical issues to a non technical audience
• Ability to work both as part of a team and under your own initiative

Desirable experience / skills;

• Formal IT qualifications eg. CompTIA, Microsoft or Cisco
• Proven history of working in-depth with MS Windows 2003 networks
• Proven history of telephone and on-site client support
